Last updated: July 9, 2026
1. Who we are
This website is operated by EduCultural Exchange Ltd., 100-519 7 St S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2G8, Canada, a subsidiary of Huixian Global Education Group (汇贤国际教育集团). For the purposes of Canadian and European data protection law, EduCultural Exchange Ltd. is the organization responsible for personal information collected through this website (the "controller"). Program delivery in mainland China is carried out with Beijing Huixian School, Beijing, China. References to "we," "us," and "our" mean EduCultural Exchange Ltd. and, where applicable, its affiliates.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly through the contact and booking form: your name, email address, phone number or WeChat ID (optional), the program you are interested in, your preferred language, and the content of your message. We also collect limited technical information necessary to operate the site, described in the Cookies section below. We do not collect payment card information through this website; no online payment facility is currently active.
3. How we use your information
- Responding to inquiries and bookings (legal basis: your consent, and steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract);
- Administering programs you enroll in (legal basis: performance of a contract);
- Operating and securing the website, including spam prevention (legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe, functional website);
- Website analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies (legal basis: consent). No analytics service is currently active on this site.
We do not sell personal information, use it for third-party advertising, or make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Cookies & similar technologies
The site uses only technologies necessary for it to function: your cookie-consent choice and language preference are stored in your browser's local storage. Analytics cookies would be set only after you choose "Accept all" in the consent banner, and no analytics provider is currently deployed. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, after which the banner will appear again.
5. Service providers
We use a small number of service providers who process personal information on our behalf:
- Formspree, Inc. (United States) processes contact-form submissions and delivers them to our email inbox. Form data you submit is transferred to and stored on Formspree servers in the United States, subject to Formspree's data processing terms, which incorporate the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers.
- Google LLC (United States) serves the web fonts used on this site (Google Fonts). When a page loads, your IP address is transmitted to Google in order to deliver the font files. Google states that Google Fonts requests are not used for advertising profiles.
- Our web hosting provider stores the website and standard server logs (IP address, request time, pages requested) for security and reliability purposes.
6. International data transfers
We operate in Canada and China, and our service providers operate in the United States. Depending on your location, your information may therefore be transferred outside your country of residence. Transfers from the European Economic Area to Canada are covered by the European Commission's adequacy decision for Canada's PIPEDA (Decision 2002/2/EC, reaffirmed in January 2024) insofar as the data is subject to PIPEDA; transfers to the United States rely on Standard Contractual Clauses entered into by our processors. Personal information originating in mainland China is handled as described in Section 9.
7. Canada: Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
We handle personal information in accordance with PIPEDA's ten fair information principles, including accountability, limiting collection to what is necessary, and safeguarding. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to challenge its accuracy and have it corrected, and to withdraw consent to its use (subject to legal or contractual restrictions, and on reasonable notice). To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
8. European Economic Area & UK: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to: access your personal data; have inaccurate data rectified; have data erased; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Our legal bases for processing are listed in Section 3. We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer under Article 37 GDPR given the scale of our processing; privacy matters are handled by our Lethbridge office. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
9. China: 个人信息保护法 (Personal Information Protection Law, PIPL)
For personal information handled in mainland China, we comply with the PIPL. Where your personal information is transferred out of mainland China (for example, from Beijing Huixian School to our Canadian office to arrange a program), we will first obtain your separate consent as required by Article 39 PIPL and inform you of the overseas recipient's identity, contact details, purposes, and how you may exercise your rights against the recipient. Cross-border transfers are conducted under the standard contract mechanism provided for in Article 38 PIPL. You have the right to access and copy your personal information, request correction or deletion, restrict or refuse its processing, and request an explanation of our handling rules. For children under the age of 14, we obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before handling their personal information (Article 31 PIPL).
10. Data retention
- Inquiry and booking-form submissions: up to 24 months after our last exchange with you, so we can handle follow-up questions, then deleted.
- Records of programs you purchase or enroll in: up to 7 years, as required by Canadian tax and accounting law.
- Cookie-consent records: stored only in your own browser; we keep no server-side copy.
11. Children's privacy
Our programs serve K-12 students, but this website is directed at parents, guardians, and educators. Registration and booking forms must be completed by a parent or guardian on a minor's behalf, and we collect only the minimum information about a minor needed to deliver the program. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website; if you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including transport-layer encryption (HTTPS) for the website and form submissions, access on a need-to-know basis, and use of reputable providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if a breach affecting your information creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as applicable law requires.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision; material changes will be highlighted on this page. Where a change requires your consent under applicable law, we will seek it.
